More details for Seminar for those who want to take up teaching Japanese as a Profession or Volunteer activity or those who are teaching as a volunteer

Who is the course for?
Anyone that wants to take up teaching Japanese as a profession or volunteer activity or that is already teaching as a volunteer. .
Those who have no idea about teaching Japanese and those who have a little experience in teaching but are struggling are both welcome.
What is the goal of this course?
The goal is for you to become a 'professional' in private lessons. Private lesson is where teachers can get confidence as they learn how to answer to student's questions. They can also have conversation sessions, so that students have the chance to use what they have learned and become confident in using the language. They can also correct their mistakes. Teachers, however, need to have certain skills.
What do we learn in this course?
There are two parts in this course.
1. Basics of the Japanese language
For you to be able to handle any questions in your lessons, you need to have certain basic knowledge of the language. We will check the unique characteristcs of Japanese and difficult points of the language for students, etc. Then we will discuss the best way of introducing grammar, or the rule of the language.
2. How to succeed in the converstaion sessions.
In conversation sessions, some tend to have difficulty with lasting the conversation, correction of the mistakes, encouraging students to talk, etc. We will introduce you some techniques of the Coaching Approch, that are the way of questioning, the usage of 'inter-language *', and the way to give feedback.
  • * Interlanguage is the 'bridge' language between English and Japanese, not perfect language.
  • ** There will be trial lesson with our students where you can try what you have learned till then. We will arrange 2-3 lessons other than the practice in the lesson.
The advantages of the seminars are that you will be able to:
Get to know your aptitude:
As in other professions, there is certain aptitude for teaching Japanese. Normally, in order to finish a 420hr course, you have to invest a lot of money and 6-12months of time, but you can only get to know your aptitude when you stand in the classroom after your long course. At TAC Language Institute, you can see if you have the aptitude for teaching within 10 lessons. A professional advisor is ready to share open feedback upon request.
Learn Coaching methods:
Good quetioning and effective feedback can be used for daily life also. You can influence others with your skills.
Have support:
Before the seminar we will have 1-hour interview for us to listen to your request and build our syllabus. If you have any questions or concerns, staff will attend to you in office hours.
Upon completion -
If you master the skills of lesson creation and classroom handling, then you can apply them to any situation in your future.
